Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Guide: Things It Doesn't Tell You: Part 1
With a game as large as Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, it's inevitable that there are a few hidden things the game won't tell you. While there are plenty of in-game tutorials, from combat to cataloging Sujimon, there are several elements of the game that may not be immediately obvious. Here is a list of tips and tricks that Infinite Wealth doesn't make obvious, but are extremely valuable in helping Ichiban Kasuga make his way through his latest adventure in the brand-new tropical Hawaiian setting.
Many Elements Unlock In Chapter 4 And Chapter 5
As with previous Yakuza and Like a Dragon games, Infinite Wealth is filled to the brim with mechanics. There are mini-games to play, jobs to unlock, sub stories to complete, and much more. But not every single one of these elements will be immediately available to you from the beginning of the game. For the game to fully open up, Ichiban has to make his way to Hawaii, recover from getting robbed as soon as he arrives, and meet up with his old friend Kazuma Kiryu.
You'll probably reach Chapter 4: In the Ghetto after between eight and twelve hours of gameplay. Once you hit this chapter, a lot of the game's mechanics and elements will become available. One is the Street Surfer, a customizable Segway-like vehicle that Ichiban can ride around the city. Another is Sujimon Battles, a Pokemon-inspired mini-game where you can take on Sujimon Trainers in three-on-three battles for a variety of rewards. Also opening in Chapter 4 is Fortune Collecting, which can be exchanged for rewards at the Ryukai Shrine.
Chapter 5: Suspicious Minds grants you the ability to unlock new jobs and switch characters' jobs around. Until you reach this point, each character will be locked in their starting job (except Ichiban, who can switch between Hero and Freelancer.) As there are many jobs to find and use in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and it opens up tons of new ways to tackle the game's combat, you should definitely aim to reach Chapter 5 to unlock this mechanic. Also unlocking in Chapter 5 are the Ounabara Vocational School, where Ichiban can take tests to improve his personality, and the Photo Rally app, which grants you rewards in exchange for taking pictures of specific locations.
Considerations In Combat
Like its predecessor Like a Dragon, Infinite Wealth utilizes turn-based RPG-inspired combat. Ichiban and his allies can take on a variety of thugs, gang members, underworld denizens and more throughout both Yokohama and Hawaii. While the game proivdes plenty of helpful combat tips, there are a few things it doesn't tell you that you should keep in mind when getting into battle.
Upgrade Your Weapons Frequently
The base versions of weapons, bought at stores or found in treasure chests, are fine - but they can get a lot better. Starting in Chapter 4, you can visit any Julie's Gearworks location to upgrade your weapons using crafting materials. Upgraded weapons can deal a wider range of damage types and provide bonus effects like healing or boosting critical rates - so you always want to upgrade your weapons whenever possible!
