《被谋杀前必读的101本恐怖小说》：获奖阅读指南

《被谋杀前必读的101本恐怖小说/101 Horror Books to Read Before You're Murdered》出版于2023年，去年拿到了布莱姆·斯托克奖的最佳非虚构类图书奖项，作者萨迪·哈特曼在社交媒体上被称作“恐怖妈妈”，她创办了自己的恐怖小说出版社和订阅网站，是布莱姆·斯托克奖提名编辑。
用作者的话来说，这本书是当代流行恐怖小说阅读指南，尤其适合此前较少接触恐怖小说的新人读者，能通过这本书明确自己喜好的恐怖小说类型。
我的想法是，对当代欧美恐怖小说感兴趣的读者，还可以通过这本书扩充书单，我就找到了几本感兴趣的，打算过后慢慢看。
书中提到的恐怖小说有些推出了中文版，有些我之前读过并写了感想，这都会在下面列出——

   
    
  
   
    
  
   
    
  

  
在列出书单之前，作者首先声明，斯蒂芬·金对当代恐怖小说有巨大影响，对她人生有巨大影响，所以这本书刻意排除了斯蒂芬金的所有作品；她不喜欢《叶之屋》，所以没有收录；她没有读过洛夫克拉夫特的作品，且不太喜欢恐怖电影。
书单中绝大多数都是近二十年来在美国出版的恐怖小说，尤以近几年的作品居多，作者为每本书都写了推荐文字，包括无泄底内容简介、对小说的主题和风格的简要说明和评价。
此外，书中还特别介绍了十位恐怖小说作家及其作品，额外收录了五位恐怖小说作家的随笔文章。
就我的阅读感受而言，这本书比格雷迪·亨德里克斯的《地狱书单》逊色不少，书中收录的小说及相关分类没什么理论依据，完全取决于作者的个人喜好，非常主观，换句话说，这就是她的个人阅读书单。
有些人（比如我）很可能与她口味不合，那些被她用溢美之词大夸特夸的小说，会给出截然相反的评价。
但这本书确实有助于了解更多恐怖小说作家及其作品，丰富个人阅读书单，以及它的最大优点是介绍的书都比较新。在这方面有需要的读者还是可以一看的。
