Oliver Skipp: "It’s always a dream to pull on the shirt and play in front of those fans"
Ask his peers, and one word that will keep cropping up when talking about Oliver Skipp is ‘humble’.
So, it’s no surprise when asked about reaching 100 appearances for us in all competitions, always such an achievement for a player coming through our Academy, that ‘Skippy’, Spurs through and through, told us, ‘I don’t take it lightly’.
Now 23, the midfielder from Welwyn Garden City made his debut off the bench in the League Cup at West Ham on 31 October, 2018. His Premier League debut followed off the bench against Southampton on 5 December, his first start against Burnley 10 days later. He’s already reached 71 league appearances within his first 100.
It’s also no surprise that Skippy couldn’t shake off the disappointment of losing against City in the FA Cup as he reached his century on Friday evening.
Speaking on our Review Show, he told us: “I would have liked to have got it in a win, of course, but it’s something I’m very proud of. I’ve always said coming through the Academy, it’s always a dream to pull on the shirt and play in front of those fans.
“I’ll reflect on it in a few days with immense pride but at the moment, I’m just disappointed we didn’t get through to the next round, because that was the objective."
“I always want to keep improving, keep pushing. I don’t take it lightly that I’ve managed to play 100 games for this Club, it’s a big achievement and something I can always look back on, but, for me, it’s about continuing to improve.
“We’ve had a new manager this season and he’s been a breath of fresh air for everyone. There is a lot of improvement that needs to be done and can be done with this group, a young group, a lot of talented players playing in the league for the first time and will get better. So, we’re all disappointed to lose against City, but promisingsigns.”

同样不出所料的是,斯基皮在周五晚上达成百场里程碑之际,还是没能摆脱输给曼城的足总杯比赛的失望情绪。
